Silver Kalevala Filigree earrings

Kalevala-The lace pattern of the Filigree jewellery, which has been in the collection since 1961, is a delight from decade to decade and even century to century. The Filigree jewellery represents the style worn by the wealthy ruling class of the 17th century. Such filigree jewellery was common in Sweden at the time, and from there it spread to the coastal towns of western Finland. These silver filigree earrings are also inspired by a gold ring with elaborate filigree designs that originated in Sweden.

Filigree is an old goldsmith's technique of soldering thin threads to a frame. This creates a delicate and lacy pattern. The silver earrings have a pin fastening.
